The Jerusalem Temple Visit 2008

Alec Garrard has spent the last 30 years contructing a model of Herod's Temple built on the basis of information from the bible, the Talmud and the Mishnah, and from latest archeological discoveries.

The most authentic model in existence, the temple is housed in a purpose built  outbuilding (toilet available).  This has enabled Mr Garrett to paint mural scenes on the walls surrounding the model so that one can envision many of the scenes from the bible.

The visit is as much a spiritual experience as it is a practical and educational one.  Nobody could fail to be moved by seeing the gate through which Jesus left the temple, carrying the cross, to the hillside 'Golgotha' where he was crucified.

There are chairs on which one can sit and simply stare at the enormity of the task of working to scale over such a vast area.  There are binoculars with which to reach inside areas of the temple to examine the intricate detail of the Holy Place . . . the blue of Mary's robe .... the hundreds of delicate columns; each of which consists of 7 separate parts.  There are photos, diagrams, plans and even a small but perfect model of the Tabernacle such as the one on the right.

Please note that Photographs are not allowed

Alec Jarrett is on hand to answer any and all questions.  He has very definite ideas which are based not just on readings and recent archaeological findings but also on his own understanding of construction from his former career as a property developer.  Academics may wish to argue with some of his interpretations but those of us who only have a passing knowledge of the temple will be forever grateful to Mr Garrett for bringing history alive through such an unforgettable and spiritual experience.

Instructional DVD's are available: eg 'The Tabernacle'; 'The Temple and The New Testament' and others, price around £6.00.

Also available are postcards, plans and booklets of the models.
